Seminar for future coworkers spreading knowlege about the Convention 2003
The seminar focuses on the 2003 UNESCO Convention and its diverse possibilities for community members and institutions dedicated to safeguarding and promoting living heritage. Participants will explore a variety of inspiring resources, including the UNESCO ICH webpage and tools like Dive into Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), in collaboration with experts in intangible cultural heritage such as ethnologists, anthropologists, NGO representatives, and community members themselves.
The materials cover essential themes, including defining communities of heritage bearers, inventorying Intangible Cultural Heritage at different levels, connections to formal and informal education, the natural environment, the (over)commercialization of living heritage, crises resulting from armed conflicts or natural disasters, and the legal rights of heritage-bearing communities. This seminar offers a deep dive into these topics, providing valuable insights into both the challenges and opportunities in the preservation of living heritage.
The event is held in honor of the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
