Mediterranean Diet of Korčula - publication promotion

The ceremonial promotion of the publication Mediterranean Diet of Korčula, authored and edited by Sani Sardelić and published by the Ministry of Culture and Media, will take place on Friday, October 17, 2025, starting at 5:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Croatian State Archives building, Trg Marka Marulića 21, Zagreb.

In celebration of the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the event promoting the publication Mediterranean Diet of Korčula serves as a vibrant example of safeguarding and honouring Croatia’s living traditions. This multidisciplinary gathering reflects the essence of intangible heritage—oral literature, music, customs, traditional knowledge, and culinary practices.

The programme blends literary readings, ethnological insights, musical performances, and traditional gastronomy, showcasing the richness of Korčula’s intangible cultural identity. Contributions from ethnologists emphasise the publication’s role in preserving traditional knowledge and practices, reinforcing its cultural significance.

To enrich the atmosphere, Klapa Figurin will perform traditional songs from Korčula, highlighting the island’s musical identity. The tasting of local sweets and wines—such as cukarini, klašuni, krokan, lumblija, Pošip, and Grk—offers a sensory experience of the Mediterranean diet.

Interactive elements such as the Q&A session and informal socialising foster community participation and the transmission of cultural values. This event beautifully embodies the spirit of the Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, celebrating the living traditions that shape local identity and contribute to Croatia’s cultural diversity.
