From the Treasury of Cultural Heritage - programme of 78th Strážnice International Folklore Festival 2023
The programme From the Treasury of Cultural Heritage will commemorate all eight cultural living traditions that the Czech Republic has inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Culture Heritage of Humanity. Some of them are located only on the territory of the Czech Republic, in other cases communities of bearers have worked together at international level with help of Czech and international experts. The programme shows how rich and varied is the treasure trove of cultural heritage of our region. The following will be presented: Slovácko Verburik, recruit dances inscribed in 2008, Shrovetide door-to-door processions and masks in the villages of the Hlinecko area (2010), Ride of the Kings in the south-east of the Czech Republic (2011), Puppetry in Slovakia and Czechia (2016), Blaudruck/Modrotisk/Kékfestés/Modrotlač, resist block printing and indigo dyeing in Europe (2018), Handmade production of Christmas tree decorations from blown glass beads (2020), Falconry, a living human heritage (2021) and Timber rafting (2022).
