Educational project ‘Reverse Visits on Lime to Schools in the White Villages’
The project ‘Reverse Visits on Lime to Schools in the White Villages’ was created with the aim of safeguarding and transmitting a living manifestation of Intangible Cultural Heritage: the artisanal production of lime in Morón de la Frontera, recognised in 2011 by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the category of good safeguarding practices. This initiative is structured as a comprehensive educational project based on the four pillars of education promoted by UNESCO: learning to be, learning to live together, learning to know and learning to do. Its holistic approach promotes the personal, social and cultural development of students through direct contact with ancestral knowledge. Its innovative methodology, based on “reverse visits”, brings living heritage to schools: specialised technical staff, together with audiovisual materials designed specifically for the project, transform the classroom into a space for experience, dialogue and exchange. This educational approach allows students to experience and understand the value of intangible heritage and encourages their active involvement in its preservation.
