Conference 'The role of Funeral Directors on the protection of Funeral Cultural Heritage'

International Federation of Thanatologists Associations (FIAT-IFTA) is proud to host a special conference in Valencia on 16th October 2025 to celebrate the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The conference will take place in conjunction with FUNERMOSTRA the international funeral exhibition held in Valencia from 14 to 16 October with the support of PANASEF (National Association of Funeral Services).

This significant event aims to celebrate the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and raise awareness of the importance of intangible cultural heritage in our societies, highlighting the vital role it plays in preserving identity, tradition, and cultural continuity across generations.

The conference will spotlight the ongoing work of UNESCO in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, while also emphasizing FIAT-IFTA’s commitment to promoting and protecting these essential cultural expressions. Special attention will be given to the context of funeral and memorial traditions, where intangible heritage plays a particularly profound role.

A key highlight of the event will be the official presentation of the Spanish translation of the FIAT­-IFTA Heritage Report, providing Spanish-speaking professionals and institutions with greater access to this valuable resource. Ali participants will receive a copy of the translated report.

This conference promises to be an insightful and meaningful occasion for professionals, cultural advocates, and heritage stakeholders to connect, exchange knowledge, and strengthen collaborative efforts in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage worldwide.
