Call for Photography’s of intangible cultural heritage on the national Inventory

On the occasion of the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on 17 October 2025, the Austrian Commission for UNESCO is inviting photographers, practitioners, and interested individuals to contribute to a nationwide effort to visually document Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The goal is to expand the public visibility of selected elements from the National Inventory by making new photographs accessible on Kulturpool, Austria’s largest digital platform for cultural heritage.

This initiative seeks images that capture living practices in action—craftsmanship, rituals, performances, knowledge, seasonal customs, and the people who keep them alive. Rather than focusing solely on finished products or staged representations, the emphasis is on documenting processes, tools, transmission of knowledge, and community involvement.

Submission deadline: 17 November 2025
