A Peek into a Stove Setter’s Workshop
On the occasion of the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, on 17 October 2025, museum visitors will have the opportunity to talk with an experienced local stove setter as he rebuilds an early 20th-century kitchen stove, a so-called Kochmaschine, using traditional techniques and clay.
The exhibition of tiled stoves spanning three centuries of variations and styles is located on the top floor of a historic stove tile factory and offers a glimpse into a potter’s and stove setter’s craftsmanship and its transformation during the industrial age. By preserving this intangible heritage and knowledge, the museum highlights how past generations experienced life with fire as a daily companion.
