As an expert on ICH in Austria, she focused from the very beginning on the domains “knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe” and “traditional craftsmanship”. Therefore, she is bringing new perspectives in appreciation and cultural understanding of ICH. Traditional medicine, dealing with natural disasters, water management, special relationships with animals etc. turned out to be inspiring and helpful models and examples in modern life. The Ethnologist now co-leads Kulturerbe Consult, an Austrian NGO dedicated to the safeguarding of cultural knowledge, skills and practices. The focus of her work is currently on the communication of and publications on intangible cultural heritage in Austria and the neighbouring countries, with a special view on the high potential of ICH in strengthening personal responsibility and competence building.
