Ľubica Voľanská is an ethnologist and social anthropologist, serving as a senior researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, an external expert at the Slovak ICH Centre, and a project leader at the Volkskundemuseum Wien.
Since 2013, she has supported the implementation of the 2003 Convention in Slovakia and internationally. She served on the Convention’s Evaluation Body from 2019 to 2022, including as Rapporteur and Chair. She has contributed to UNESCO’s analytical and capacity-building initiatives, worked on projects concerning displaced communities, periodic reporting, and USL reports, and has experience in drafting national and multinational files and proposals for the Convention’s RL and GSP Register. She has also been part of Slovakia’s delegation to the Intergovernmental Committee and the General Assembly.
