The Culinary Cultural Heritage, an Open Window to the Future. Cheesemaking and Cheese

Highlighting the importance of agricultural traditions, in the context of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003) is one of the priorities of the Directorate of Modern Cultural Heritage of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. Within this framework, it co-organizes with the Agricultural University of Athens on the 8th November 2024, the Conference “The Culinary Cultural Heritage, an Open Window to the Future. Cheesemaking and Cheese”. The Conference is structured into three sections, all dedicated to various aspects of cheesemaking traditions with the participation of professional and artisanal cheesemakers, researchers, as well as catering and tourism professionals. The event is also linked to the launch of the second volume of the series “Food Cultural Heritage of Greece”, entitled “Cheesemaking and Cheese”. Therefore, the Conference will be concluded with the honorary delivery of the volume to veteran cheesemakers, professionals and non, as a sign of honour and gratitude for their contribution to the safeguarding of cheese knowledge and practices.
