Ceremonial Announcement of New Intangible Cultural Heritage Elements Inscribed on the National Inventory of ICH in Hungary

The Certificate Award Ceremony announcing the newly inscribed intangible cultural heritage elements is organised on 17th October – the International Cultural Heritage Day – by the Directorate of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Hungarian Open Air Museum. The venue of the event is the Museum’s event hall. Implementation of the tasks concerning the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in Hungary is entrusted to the Directorate of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Hungarian Open Air Museum. The certificates signed by the minister responsible for culture and innovation are awarded to the communities by Miklós Réthelyi, president of the Hungarian National Commission for UNESCO, and Eszter Csonka-Takács president of the Hungarian National Committee for the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Communities representing new cultural elements of the National Inventory present their cultural heritage to the audience: the best man with traditional rhymes, the Bakony and Balaton Herdsmen with folk music, the Hadház cabbage growers with a taste of their products, and Pántlika Band and Vujicsics Ensemble with the show of the traditional tambourine music they are representing. The programme includes an exhibition of tools and equipments characteristic to the communities as well.
