M. Pier Luigi Petrillo

Pier Luigi Petrillo is UNESCO Chair Professor on Intangible Cultural Heritage and Comparative Law at Unitelma Sapienza University of Rome (Italy) where he is director of the School of Advanced Studies in Cultures, Policies and Democracies and the International Master’s Program on Intangible Cultural Heritage Policy. He was a member of the Evaluation Body of the 2003 Convention during 2019-2022, serving as chair in 2022. Contributed to several nomination files (particularly on agro-food practices), he has supported and trained several communities worldwide, especially concerning legal instruments to safeguard ICH, community participation, and the role of youth in safeguarding ICH. He is also a member of the International Society of Ethnobiology, specializing in cultural mediation.
