The nineteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will take place in Asunción, Republic of Paraguay from Monday 2 to Saturday 7 December 2024.

H.E. Ms Nancy Ovelar de Gorostiaga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Paraguay to UNESCO, will chair this annual gathering which will be attended by representatives of States Parties, non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions, and other stakeholders from across the globe.

The Committee will evaluate nominations submitted by States Parties for inscription on the Lists of the Convention: 58 elements for inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, 3 transfers for transfer of elements from one list to the other, 2 elements for inscription on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding, and 3 proposals for the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices.

A press conference open to accredited media will be held on site on Monday 2 December at 12.45 pm (Asunción time).
