Panas Karampampas is a social anthropologist at Durham University (UK), while in the past, he has worked at the Università Ca’ Foscari, Venezia, at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (Athens), the University of Peloponnese (teaching Cultural Management) and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales – EHESS, Paris. He currently works on Intangible Cultural Heritage policies and global governance. More specifically, he looks at the various ways stakeholders implement “participation of communities” and examines how an international Convention affects national and local ways of conceptualising cultural transmission. Moreover, he examines the relationship between ICH and the market (see, in Greek, Intangible Cultural Heritage in times of economic “crisis”: Marketisation and Resilience, The Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports Press, 2023).
