The Department of Culture in Seychelles is organizing a community-based inventorying workshop from 6 to 9 November 2018, followed by a workshop on preparation of nomination files from 12 to 14 November, in Victoria, Mahe, in collaboration with the Ministry of Risk and Disaster, Community Development, Youth, Sports and Culture. 35 participants were selected from a wide range of stakeholders, including communities, cultural practitioners, poets, heritage clubs, artists, national experts, and staff from the Department of Culture and Seychelles Heritage Foundation. The workshops are part of the project ‘Strengthening capacity in Seychelles for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage for sustainable development’, funded through the International Assistance mechanism, and aim to strengthen the country’s capacities to safeguard intangible cultural heritage.
