Julio Sa Rego holds a PhD in Anthropology and has an educational background in development economics. He is the coordinator of the socioenvironmental startup RHE Initiative - Cultura Ambiente Território and researcher at CRIA-Centre for Research in Anthropology, an accredited NGO to the 2003 Convention Committee. He mainly leads action and research projects of community empowerment and territory valorisation through ICH safeguarding and landscape stewardship. His work portfolio comprises interventions related to community-based inventories and indigenous knowledge for the environmental resilience of rural communities. He has notably conducted deep ethnographies of mountain pastoralism communities in Northern Portugal.
