Recently retired from the Musée de l’Homme (Paris), Jean Lambert is an anthropologist and a musicologist (ethnomusicologist). He specialized in the study of music and oral literature in the Arab world (Yemen, Arabian Peninsula, Lebanon), as well as the history of Arab music (Egypt). Putting this knowledge at the service of the safeguarding of intangible heritage, he has collaborated with many UNESCO projects and national institutions (Yemen, United Arab Emirates), specially in inventory and databases. He is currently preparing the edition of a book by Fatima al-Baidani on “the oral literature of the women of Sanaa”.
