Ioana Baskerville holds degrees in linguistics, literary studies and ethnology, is currently a senior researcher at the Romanian Academy – Iasi Branch and teaches cultural anthropology at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi (Romania). Her experience with the 2003 Convention involves inventorying and interpreting ICH at the local and national level, counselling on community participation, building safeguarding strategies, informing public institutions, policymakers, and civil society organizations on ICH. She worked in different ICH-related committees at the Ministry of Culture, coordinating and drafting nomination files to the Convention’s Representative list and representing Romania in the General Assembly and other working groups. Her main areas of professional interest and cultural mediation lie in promoting the role of ICH in community building, education, local development, environmental and economic sustainability.
