Overview:

The project aimed at assessing the needs for safeguarding the audiovisual collection of traditional Sudanese music housed in the Folklore and Traditional Music Archives of the University of Khartoum. To carry out the assessment, the Sudanese National Commission recruited an expert who conducted a mission to Khartoum from 15 to 28 October 2012 and subsequently elaborated a strategy for the digitization of archival materials. Among the conclusions of the project, the urgent need was identified for capacity building to create an improved mechanism for data acquisition, digitization, storage and retrieval, as well as implementing adapted measures to ensure the security and safety of the Archives.
The project began 21 months behind schedule but was completed rapidly and closed in June 2013.
