2016 Edition of the Basic Texts Published

The Basic Texts of the 2003 Convention is a compilation of the text of the Convention, the Operational Directives, Rules of Procedures and other key reference documents and information. It is revised periodically to reflect the most recent developments of the 2003 Convention.
The 2016 Edition of the Basic Texts takes account of the resolutions of the sixth session of the General Assembly of States Parties to the 2003 Convention that took place in June 2016 as well as the decisions of the tenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee that met in November/December in 2015.
The updates include:

• an additional chapter to the Operational Directives on the linkages between intangible cultural heritage and sustainable development at the national level;
  
• an increase from US$25,000 to US$100,000 in the ceiling of International Assistance requests, to be examined by the Bureau of the Intergovernmental Committee;
  
• procedural revisions to periodic reporting, the referral option and the schedule of non-governmental organization accreditation; and
  
• the addition of Ethical Principles for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
  

The English and French versions of the 2016 Basic Texts may already be downloaded here, in both PDF and EPUB formats. Four other linguistic versions will soon be made available for public consultation, on a gradual basis, at the same web address.
