Review launched of NGOs accredited to provide advisory services to the Committee

  • 23 October 2014

The process of review is underway for 97 non-governmental organizations accredited to provide advisory services to the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Every four years following accreditation of a NGO, the Committee reviews the contribution and the commitment of the organization and its relations with it, taking into account the perspective of the NGO concerned (Paragraph 94 of the Operational Directives). The first 97 NGOs to be reviewed were accredited in 2010, during the third session of the General Assembly.

This process provides an opportunity for NGOs to report on and highlight the contribution they are making to the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage and implementation of the Convention at the national level, as well as their contribution to the work of the Committee and their capacities to provide advisory services to it.

The Secretariat looks forward to receiving the completed reports of the 97 concerned NGOs by 15 January 2015 (see the Form ICH-08 Report downloadable from the forms page).
