Decision of the Intergovernmental Committee: 20.COM 9.B.2

The Committee,

  1. Having examined document LHE/25/20.COM/9,
  2. Recalling Decision COM 7.b.20 and Chapter I.12 of the Operational Directives,
  3. Takes note that Algeria has requested the modification of name of ‘The women’s ceremonial costume in the Eastern region of Algeria: knowledge and skills associated with the making and adornment of the ‘Gandoura’ and the ‘Melehfa'', element inscribed in 2024 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity;
  4. Approves the modification proposed by Algeria and decides to modify the name of the element to ‘The women’s ceremonial costume in the Eastern region of Algeria: knowledge and skills associated with the making and adornment of the Gandoura, the Melehfa, the Caftan, the Quat and the Lhef’ in English and ‘Le costume féminin de cérémonies dans le Grand Est de l’Algérie: savoirs et savoir-faire associés à la confection et à la parure de la Gandoura, la Melehfa, le Caftan, le Quat et le Lhef’ in French;
  5. Requests that the Secretariat incorporate this modification into all its communications with respect to the element concerned.
