- Recalling Chapter V of the Operational Directives and its Decision COM 8.a.4 and Decision 18.COM 21,
- Expresses its appreciation to Namibia for submitting, on time, its first report on the status of the element ‘Aboxan Musik ǀŌb ǂÂns tsî ǁKhasigu, ancestral musical sound knowledge and skills’, inscribed in 2020 on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding;
- Takes note of the strong community participation in the safeguarding efforts undertaken by the State Party, including the enhancement of the element’s visibility through awareness-raising activities, and measures aimed at strengthening the intergenerational transmission of knowledge and skills, particularly through the provision of musical instruments and the implementation of non-formal music teaching programmes;
- Encourages the State Party to build on the positive safeguarding efforts already achieved by strengthening community-based inventorying and ensuring the full participation of the communities, groups and individuals concerned, while providing more detailed information on these processes and their outcomes in the following periodic report;
- Further encourages the State Party to continue its fundraising efforts and reinforce synergies among national, regional and international funding sources, including public, private and community-based contributions, to ensure the long-term sustainability of the safeguarding measures.
