The Committee,
- Having examined document LHE/25/20.COM/5 and its annex,
- Acknowledges the effective management of the Convention’s international cooperation mechanisms, notably the listing system, periodic reporting, International Assistance and the accreditation of non-governmental organizations, encourages the Secretariat’s ongoing efforts to continue ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Convention, its Operational Directives, and other relevant decisions of the General Assembly and the Committee, and notes with appreciation that these mechanisms are increasingly interlinked, thereby fostering a coherent and enabling environment for safeguarding activities at all levels;
- Commends the sustained efforts of the Secretariat to pursue the Convention’s development in response to globally significant issues, while remaining attentive to the needs and aspirations of communities worldwide, and recognises the continued progress in advancing the thematic initiatives of the Convention and the reflection on a broader implementation of Article 18;
- Encourages the Secretariat to further expand the scope of its interventions, within the limits of available resources, to address overarching and emerging issues and to explore synergies with other culture conventions, UNESCO’s programmes, and other international organizations, particularly in refining the Convention’s approach to biological diversity and nature-culture connections;
- Welcomes the positive implementation of a) the first funding priority, notably the launch of the learning platform for safeguarding living heritage, support for the global facilitators’ network and capacity building interventions at national and regional levels, and b) the second funding priority, especially the integration of the living heritage and education approach into policies and programmes through strengthened capacities, pedagogical shifts and inter-ministerial collaboration;
- Invites the Secretariat to build on the results of the first and second funding priorities, particularly the progress achieved in capacity-building and the integration of living heritage into education, and to continue strengthening the foundations of the Convention through its systematic, collaborative, and step-by-step approach;
- Also invites the Secretariat to submit to the Committee, at its twenty-first session, a report providing an overall assessment of the use of the Convention’s emblem and potentially proposing avenues for improvement to facilitate its use.
